Kapow Technologies Secures $11.6 Million in
Series-C Financing
Announcement Caps a String of Recent Accomplishments
Which Further Establish the Company's Leadership Position in the Mashup
and Web Intelligence Markets
Palo Alto, CA - March 6, 2008 – Kapow Technologies,
the expert in harvesting mashable public and private web intelligence with
software that turns the web into the world's largest database, today
announced that it has signed definitive documents to complete a Series-C
financing round of $11.6 million. Closing is expected to occur by March
31. New investors include Steamboat Ventures, a venture capital firm
affiliated with The Walt Disney Company, and Morgan Stanley's Strategic
Investments Group. Previous investors Kennet Partners and NorthCap
Partners also participated in the round.
The new funds will enable the company to significantly enhance its
software as a service (SaaS) platform and expand its global sales
operations in the media, financial services, manufacturing, transportation
and government sectors where the company has established a leadership
position.
"The advancement of mashup technologies has resulted in new
opportunities for data collection, integration and delivery by creating a
more useful and valuable resource for businesses and the consumers they
serve," said Beau Laskey, managing director of Steamboat Ventures, and
newest Board member of Kapow Technologies. "Because Kapow Technologies was
first to market with one of the key pieces of technology to create mashups
in enterprises, it has achieved hundreds of successful use cases among
world's largest companies and the most technically savvy Web 2.0
firms."
"Kapow Technologies is helping transform the way Wall Street collects
and repurposes information on the Web for use in new intelligent
applications," said Gary Offner, Executive Director at Morgan Stanley's
Strategic Investments Group. "We believe that the Kapow Mashup Server has
many valuable uses within Morgan Stanley and the financial services
industry. As a new investor and licensor of Kapow's software, we look
forward to helping the company fulfill its potential."
Contributing to the enterprise mashup and web intelligence trends,
Kapow Technologies is the only company that provides enterprise-class
server software that enables the harvesting of mashable public and private
web intelligence. As the number one solution in its class for three years
running, the Kapow Mashup Server is installed at more than 300 companies
worldwide, and routinely delivers strategic business and IT results on
budgets and timelines that were once thought impossible.
Kapow Technologies Achieves Significant
Milestones
Today's financing announcement comes on the heels
of closing the company's most successful year ever. Among its many
accomplishments in 2007, Kapow Technologies rolled out three new versions
of the Kapow Mashup Server, and expanded its management team and
operations in Asia, Europe and the United States. It also signed 80 new
customers, closed its first million-dollar sale, and was covered in the
Wall Street Journal for its success with Audi.
"Kapow Technologies continues to execute on all cylinders," said Javier
Rojas, managing director of Kennet Partners, which led the company's
Series-B funding round. "The company entered the U.S. market in 2005, and
has quickly become a leader in Enterprise 2.0 software. We look forward to
continued growth."
